Duration 6 hours
⦁Gavalochori: A Blend of Tradition and Culture.
Appreciate the natural charm and scenic beauty of Crete while approaching the traditional Gavalochori village. Discover Gavalochori’s cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship. You will visit local artisan shops, the women’s cooperative of Bobbin Lace, old restored Venetian mansions, historic corners, and the famous Venetian wells. Enjoy the quaint atmosphere and warm hospitality.
⦁Vamos: The Traditional Gem. Explore traditional Cretan architecture and vibrant local life in Vamos. Walk through charming streets with stone houses and narrow alleys. Visit the famous Kalderimi street, where the donkeys passed. Visit craft shops and enjoy homemade delicacies.
⦁Karydi: Visit the Greek Orthodox Monastery of St George. Don’t miss the trademark of the monastery: the old olive oil factory (Fabrica) with its 12 surviving arches. Once a large factory with four oil mills, the unique case throughout Crete, witnesses the large quantities of oil produced here.
⦁Vrises: Set in a green valley with running water, bridges and waterside tavernas. Visit the Greek Kamara Bridge and enjoy a Greek coffee or a mountain tea in a local coffee shop with the company of the adorable ducks.
⦁Olive mill & local products: Explore Crete’s unique flavours and aromas. Chat with the people behind the scenes and learn everything about olive production. Taste the local culinary delights, such as traditional olive oil, honey, rusks, olives, herbs, spices, and our local drink, raki.
⦁Georgioupoli: It has the longest beach on the island, with over nine kilometres of golden sand. There is abundant wildlife in the area attracted by the river and surrounding semi-wetland. The little chapel of St Nicolas, built on the water, is the trademark of Georgioupolis and the ideal scenery to enrich your photobook.
⦁Lake Kournas: The only natural freshwater lake of Crete has two faces, one in summer and another in winter, a lake in two, with different characteristics and different images in each season. It is a haven to the area’s avifauna and it is protected by the Natura 2000 program. Learn the myth of the nymph of the Lake and enjoy the unique White Mountains reflected in its waters.
