Full-Day Samaria Gorge Trek Excursion

Your day begins with an early morning pickup from the nearest point to your accommodation and heads toward the scenic plateau of Omalos, deep in the heart of the White Mountains.

Upon arrival, you’ll reach the famous wooden staircase marking the entrance of the gorge. Start your adventure immediately or enjoy breakfast at a nearby traditional taverna before setting off.

Walk approximately 16 kilometres through breathtaking mountain terrain, ancient forests, and rugged rock formations. Discover rare Cretan flora and aromatic herbs along the trail, and pass through the iconic narrow passage known as the “Iron Gates,” where the cliffs rise nearly 300 meters high. Keep your eyes open for the elusive Cretan wild goat — the Kri-Kri — a unique species found only in this region.

Your hike ends at the peaceful seaside village of Agia Roumeli, where you’ll have plenty of time to relax, enjoy a well-deserved swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea, or have lunch at a traditional beachfront taverna. In the afternoon, board the ferry to Sfakia port and admire the dramatic coastline of southern Crete
